We made it

We have officially begun our tenure as North Carolina residents. After a little bit of a late start, we got on the road a little before 9 am. We had to make several stops due to the fact that we were also moving a pregnant woman and three cats. We drugged the cats to reduce the stress that they would experience during the move. Right from the beginning it was apparent that Maggie was putting up the best fight against the meds. As a result, she won the ride with mom and dad (we wanted to spare the grand-dads the pain of Maggie yowling). Around 11:30 we stopped for lunch and gave the cats another dose (and upped Maggie's dose). Timothy and Abby were out the rest of the way. Maggie was still fighting the meds and would make us aware of her presence every 15-30 minutes. There were no real hiccups along the way except for two in Grandpa Wilson's truck. First, we didn't realize it until we arrived in Charlotte, but Psycho Gerbil's cage top tilted leaving a relatively large gap that she could climb out of. Thankfully, she couldn't see the hole and was still in her cage. The second involves some involuntary effects of medication on Timothy. While he was drugged he sort of lost a little bowel control and pooed in the carrier. It was located such that it didn't really smell bad in the truck so we didn't notice until we arrived at the apartment.

After unloading everything, we decided to drive around real quick to show the dads around before the sun set. Before leaving we set up the cats in the bathroom and let them out of the carriers. VERY BAD IDEA. Here starts the sequel to packing day fun entitled Moving Day Fun. All three cats were still groggy and not very coordinated. This wouldn't be a big deal if they were all clean. Timothy, however, still had poo all over his butt. As he stumbled around, he managed to track it all over the bathroom including the following:

1. Sink and counter
2. walls
3. toilet
4. tub
5. shower curtain
6. on TOP of the litter box
7. on top of 2 out of 3 carriers
8. floor

It was glorious. He had made his drunken masterpiece and I had to clean it up. But first, I had to clean him. That was much fun, as you can imagine. Long story short, the bathroom is clean now.

I will post more on the apartment later, but here's a taste:

It's really nice, it's a 2/2 instead of a 1/1, it's really nice, the AC doesn't work, and if you turn off the master bathroom light the breaker trips.

more to follow...
