Work Update
So here's where things stand. Krista has just finished her dissertation and will be giving it to her committee on Monday. She has scheduled her defense for January 22nd at noon. Theoretically, by 2pm on the 22nd, we will have to start calling her Doctor. My work is a little slower, but I am scheduled to return to UCF on wednesday to run two XRD machines for the whole day. Hopefully, by the end of Wednesday I will have most of the XRD data that I need (I have 3 samples still in a furnace that will need to be prepared for a return trip the following week). If the XRD data works out for me, look out. I'll be cruising towards a defense soon after. I have completed a rough draft of my Superalloys 2008 paper and have almost completed my presentation that will be used for my Superalloys presentation, dissertation defense, and job interview. As for my job situation, back in December I received a call back from a company in North Carolina called Allvac. The next day I had a phone interview that went very well. They decided that they wanted to bring me up for an interview in January sometime. Unfortunately, that was right before Christmas. I still have not heard when I am going up. If I do not hear anything by next week I'll contact them to find out where things stand. If I do get this job we will be in Monroe, NC, a small town south east of Charlotte. The next several weeks are going to be crazy. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
