More on Sophie
I just spoke with Dr. Osborne and got an update on Sophie. She now has a feeding tube inserted into her neck(performed on Monday) so that she can be fed throughout the day. She is now eating about the equivalent of a can of cat food a day. She has had some trouble with throwing up lately. Usually only once or twice a day, but it is still a concern. Otherwise, she is pooping and peeing and seems to be improving. He said she is active again and her tongue is no longer hanging out and she is vocal. These are all good things. She is still not eating on her own though (not that I really expected it yet). We are going to keep things up a bit longer and get another update on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully at that point she will be able to come home again. If things don't continue to improve or get worse again, we may have problems. If she comes home, she will still have a feeding tube in and we will have to tube feed her everyday for 3-4 weeks. This is likely a long recovery. We just hope she continues to get better.
