Summer A season complete (for us)
Well last night we had our third and final game of the summer A indoor soccer season. We did our best but lost. This season was fun, though a few more players would be beneficial. We had a real goal-keeper for 2 out of 3 games. That's better then our prior indoor record of 0 for 17. Last night was a bit different because three of our players couldn't make it out. So Krista sent out a desperate plea for help that was answered by 4 players. That turned last night into more of an interview of sorts for future players. They all did great and had a great time so hopefully with them and maybe picking up one or two more, we might do better next season. The biggest disadvantage we have is conditioning. Almost all of our players are 24 years old or older and not as fast as they once were (though likely as fast once as they ever were). The teams we play are most of the ages 18-21. That's a significant difference to have to make up for in skill. We're always looking for fast players that can follow the ball and the other teams' best players. I think the fall season we will be much better as some of our faster players that left for the summer will be back together and all the new teams that sign up aren't as good as the summer teams (in the summer all the "pros" usually form teams together and so the competition is tougher.
No matter what though, I enjoy playing. You can't keep me away from it and I would play every night if I could. I also love playing with Krista. She's come a long way since she started. Last night she actually kicked a ball that was at least 5 feet in the air. I have no idea how she managed it, but she did. If only it had been served a little lower, she would have had a shot. Anyway, it's a lot of fun and I'll be doing this until we graduate. Maybe in summer B I'll get some indoor pictures for you.
