That makes 4...
...Years that is. Krista and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary last night at the Gainesville Melting Pot. We had the Cheddar fondue and made our own chocolate (dark chocolate with Chambord Raspberry liquor, Flaming of course). So anyways, in case you missed it this is what happened this year:
Krista got to enjoy the entire year hiatal hernia free. The surgery took place in March 2006 so it doesn't count, but we decided that enjoying life as a result does.
New things in our home:
Fish (African cychlids, guppies, betas and babies of the aquatic variety)
Kitchen sink
Guest bath vanity top
Tivo
Chickens
A canary picture
Furniture from Grandma's house
Tools from Grandpa's garage
Gerbils (Holly and Molly and Holly the sequel)
Timothy
This past year was the first year we played in all the UF intramural soccer leagues (Spring Outdoor and Summer A, Summer B, and Fall Indoor). This year we are eyeing basketball, softball, and ultimate frisbee in addition to our full soccer schedule. Not to mention the kickball tournament in the fall.
We also participated in the second annual dodgeball tournament where we failed to win a game in league play (earning us a 15th seed out of 16), however, we beat the pants off our first playoff opponent (a 2nd seed) before losing in a highly contested second round match.
Speaking of sports, UF became to first team to win both basketball and football NCAA national championships at the same time. A feat that only lasted a few months when we won another championship to become the first team to win them both in the same school year. Now everyone has written Florida off because we lost a lot of players to graduation and the draft. I think they'll wish they hadn't. Especially in football.
Brandon went to the 12 hrs of Sebring for the first time. He went to 2 conferences (in Cincinnati and Orlando). He also submitted a paper for publication in the journal Materials Science and Engineering A. We are still working on getting final acceptance (should be soon).
Krista and I visited the Georgia Aquarium, the High museum of Art with an exhibit from the Louvre in France. We went to a Jars of Clay and Switchfoot concerts. Brandon made a killer pumpkin. Krista Scored her first goal indoors. She then scored several more. Then she scored her first goal outdoors. She likes this scoring goals thing. We tried sushi.
What's next? Nothing much. Just finishing 2 Ph.D.s, getting jobs, and moving. Silly stuff like that. We are both within a year of graduation. 11 months at the longest. It seems like almost every day we get a little closer to being done. I know that sounds silly, but lately we can feel it. There's a change in the wind. We've both officially began writing our dissertations. Slowly, but surely. We both still have a lot of research left before we can stop working and only write. That day is coming though. Several of our friends that have been in Gainesville as long as us are now leaving. The MacGregors, the Otts, and the Oates are all leaving in the July to August time frame. It's difficult to have to deal with these changes and maintain focus at work, but the excitement of being done is a strong driving force. It'll be a good year though. We're looking forward to it.

That's...kind of disturbing.
